How could you possibly justify such ridiculous medieval doodles?

As one of the monks responsible, you've got to desperately justify your pairing of Silly Lil' Guy and Very Serious Quote cards to avoid the Abbot's wrath! Throw your fellow monks under the cart and ensure that they, not you, take the fall for all these very silly margin doodles!

A game of free-for-all desperate justifications and improvised debates featuring genuine and ridiculous 14th-16th century medieval art. How will you justify your pairing of bafflingly bizarre marginalia and incredibly serious quote?

Gameplay

Lo! What hath happened?! Your mind hath wandered and you’ve drawn something Very Silly. The Abbot isn’t going to like this….

1. Each player is dealt a “Very Silly Guy” and “Very Serious Quote” card - the outlandish marginalia they’ve drawn and the serious quote they drew it next to.
2. One player asks another “Brother, WHY have you drawn THAT” and begins a free-for-all argument as each player desperately tries to justify their pairing of cards.
3. Whomever is deemed the worst justified by consensus is who the monks wheel off to take the fall and receive a Chastisement (naughty point) from the Abbot!
4. New round begins with new cards and fresh arguments - least Chastisements at the end of the game wins!

Exceptionally easy to jump into, this game is perfect for a laugh at the end of the night after more serious games, a great warm-up and ice-breaker at a friendly gathering or even a spirited, humorous game in a pub or bar!
